In history, Europe suffered a Black Death. The Black Death is a zoonotic disease, circulating mainly among small rodents and their fleas and is one of three types of bacterial infections caused by Yersinis pestis which belongs to the family Enterobacteriaceae. It stands out as the most dramatic and changing event during the fourteenth century. The Plague spread from Asia through Europe. The first signs of the plague in Europe appeared around the fall of 1347. In just as little as three years, one-third of all Europe’s population was wiped out; 75million people. This detrimental population change during the Late Middle Ages caused great changes in European culture and lifestyle.
